Redstone Tutorial: Simple Elevator
Ok, the title may be a bit misleading. This project actually doesn’t use any redstone, yet it is as effective as some redstone bubble elevators. Also, it as almost no chance of breaking, and it is cheap to make! With no further things to say about it, I’ll get right into it.
Step 1: Materials
One of my favorite things about this project is how easy it is to know how many resources it will use. For every block you want to go, you will need one trapdoor, one piece of kelp, and 6 building blocks of your choice. Everything else on this list is a one off. For this example, I will make it 64 blocks tall.
Step 2: Outline
For this step, just lay out your building blocks like so:
Next, just layer it as tall you want it to go. It should end up looking a little bit like this:
Step 2: Trapdoors
Pillar up of the inside of the tower with the trapdoors, making sure that when you close them it will separate the two blocks. When you reach the top, place a water bucket on the open block, and go back down by closing the trapdoors.
Step 3: Kelp placement
On the side with the water, replace the floor with sand, and swim up the water stream, placing kelp as you go up. Make sure to break the bottom two trapdoors to let water into the second block. When you reach the top jump back down to the bottom.
Step 4: Soul sand and signs
Extend the bottom blocks out by one, and place signs to prevent water from leaking out of the elevator. Then, replace the sand with soul sand. The kelp made every water block source blocks, so the soul sand will shoot you up to the top while not allowing you to run out of breath.
I hoped you liked todays blog! One of the other writers might provide a tutorial soon that will implement a system to let you pick a floor with this elevator. If you enjoyed this blog, consider subscribing or leaving a like! Have a great day!
