Sharkbite - the game of killer sharks and poachers
SharkBite is a strange, yet surprisingly fun game. The basis of the game is one person is a killer shark, while everyone else is in boats, trying to kill the shark. As a “Survivor”, you have two tasks: kill the shark and stay alive. However, you are selected to be the shark, you try to kill everyone else. Killing a player when you are shark, winning the game, or shooting the shark all earn you the games currency which is called Shark Teeth. They can be used for purchasing better boats, guns and sharks. At the start of every round a new shark is selected, with every round you are not the shark your odds will increase. Once you are the shark, you swim around in the water destroying peoples boats and eating them. You win by killing all of the players.
When you are a survivor you use your boat to stay away from the shark, and shoot the shark with your gun. You win by killing the shark or the time running out.
Upgrades
One of the most important elements of the game is the upgrade system. You can use Shark Teeth to purchase bigger and faster boats, better sharks, or more powerful weapons. I recommend focusing on boats and guns first, then sharks. Some of the boats even have special abilities, which allow the ship to better evade the shark. The cheapest ship that I know of with a special ability is the pirate ship, costing 150 Shark Teeth. The pirate ship has cannons to attack the shark with, although they can only fire in one direction.
I do not recommend buying it, because it has slow speed and the 2nd worst maneuverability in the game. However, if you want a ship that will decimate the shark, I can recommend the stealth boat. It is the third fastest boat in the game, able to out run all but one of the sharks. It can go transparent, making it harder to see. It can go underwater, jump, and has a turret from which the drive can shoot the shark.
It’s only real con is the price, coming at 5,000 Shark Teeth. However if you can afford it is definitely worth it. Once you have picked out a boat you like, it is time to focus on guns and sharks. In my experience, the rocket launcher is a cheap but effective gun, which I still use. With sharks I don’t really find it challenging, and can server wipe with the starter shark.
Strategies
I almost always win games using three strategies which are easy to do and are incredibly effective. The first is I always pick the fastest boat I can, so if the shark sets its eyes on me I can out run it. The second is to invite the entire lobby to your boat, and about 4 or 5 people will join you. This is because when piloting the boat, it is often hard or impossible to deal damage to the shark, so your team can focus on shooting while you focus on getting away. The third and biggest thing to do is always be moving to make yourself less of a target and stay as far away from the shark, trying to snipe but not making yourself noticeable.
All in all, I have a lot of fun playing this game and I recommend it. It is a great game when you are taking a break from a stressful activity or another game. See you next time!
